Diversion Program

Diversion Programs are offered as an alternative to typical Court proceedings and consequences. These programs allow a second chance to first time offenders who do not pose a threat to society. These programs are administered through the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Please call (864) 467-8425 for fees and detailed explanation of course requirements.

Alcohol Education Program (AEP)
AEP is offered as an alternative to Court for underage alcohol offenders.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be between the ages of 17 and 21;
• Must have no other alcohol-related offenses or criminal record.

A person may only participate in AEP once. However, participation in AEP does not prevent a person’s future eligibility to participate in PTI. Offenses covered by AEP are: purchase/possession/transfer of an alcohol beverage, open container in a motor vehicle, open container in a public place, Public Disorderly Conduct (PDC), Public Drunk, Littering, and Possession /Use of False Identification.

You must apply for AEP at the Clemson Municipal Court PRIOR TO or DURING the scheduled court date and time. No applications will be accepted after the scheduled Court date and time. The application will then be forwarded to Solicitor’s Office. If the applicant is accepted into the program, the Solicitor’s Office will then schedule enrollment for the applicant.

Pre-trial Intervention (PTI)

PTI is offered as a “second chance” to those participants who do not present a threat to society and have no significant prior criminal history. Applications are accepted prior to your scheduled court date at the Solicitor’s Diversion Program’s Office located at 113 Court Street, Pickens, SC 29671.

To apply for PTI, you must have the following:

• Money Order for $100.00
• Copy of the warrant or ticket
• Picture I.D.
 • Social Security Card

Traffic Education Program (TEP)

The Traffic Education Program (TEP) was established in South Carolina to educate drivers with minor traffic offenses while giving them the opportunity to have eligible traffic tickets dismissed, and thereby keep their driving records clean. Upon successful completion of TEP, the individual will receive a non-criminal disposition from the Court and no official record of the traffic violation will be maintained, except by TEP to ensure that no person benefits from this program more than once.

Eligibility Requirements

• Committed traffic related offense punishable only by a fine and loss of 4 points or less
• No significant history of traffic violations (in any state)
• Has not previously participated in TEP (Prior participants of PTI and/or AEP are eligible to participate in TEP.)

A TEP participant must:

• Pay the required program fees ($280)
• Complete eight (8) hours of community service for a NON-PROFIT organization as designated by the Solicitor’s Office
• Complete an online traffic education program.
