Libraries
Clemson Libraries welcomes visitors from the community. As long as they are 16 years or older, any resident of South Carolina, family member of a university employee, South Carolina public school teacher, or member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) may become a Community Member for free by submitting a Community Member Application Form.
The Anderson County Library System includes the Main Library in Anderson, eight branches and a bookmobile. The library system has over 300,000 books, DVDs, audiobooks and music CDs, and as a member of the SCLends consortium, has access to over 3.5 million items. All library locations have computers for public use, free Wi-Fi, and color and black-and-white photocopiers.
The Oconee County Public Library System has four locations and a bookmobile and provides resources and experiences to satisfy curiosity, connect people with their community, and encourage lifelong discovery. The library is a hub for the community, with resources people need and want, programs and services that help people satisfy curiosity or try something new, and staff that is trained and prepared to help people reach their goals.
The Pickens County Library System currently has four locations: Hampton Memorial Library in Easley (Headquarters), Central-Clemson Library in Central, Village Library in Pickens, and Sarlin Library in Liberty. The PCLS mission is to provide all county residents with access to information through the development of appropriate collections and services. These collections and services must cover the informational, educational, cultural, and entertainment needs of county residents.
Museums
For more than 30 years the ACM has collected, preserved, and interpreted artifacts that document the history of Anderson and South Carolina. The museum educates a diverse audience by creating a place where visitors find meaning in learning the local, regional, and national significance of Anderson and South Carolina.
The CU Symphony Orchestra is a part of the Clemson University Fine Arts program. The Orchestra strives to achieve the highest level of music-making possible for a college/community ensemble. In the course of rehearsals, musicians gain practical knowledge of ensemble playing, leadership, musicianship, intonation, and phrasing. During the concerts, musicians integrate these skills to produce their best possible performance.
Historical Groups
Hagood Mill includes historic cabins, a blacksmith shop, a moonshine still, a cotton gin, the South Carolina Petroglyph Site, and the 64-foot steel Prater’s Creek Bridge.
The Pendleton Historic Foundation is a 501(c)3 educational organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of historic properties in Pendleton and the interpretation of the diverse history and cultural heritage of the area. The PHF owns and operates Woodburn and Ashtabula plantations as historical museums.
Specialized Schools, Learning Centers, and Educational Resources
This resource guide strives to aid in understanding and managing the chaos in an extra-distracting world and ultimately to tackle two shortages (ADHD medications and ADHD resource guides) and fill in the blanks. This is for both non-ADHD and ADHD-diagnosed individuals.
Clemson Child Development Center
The Clemson Child Development Center, Inc., a 501c(3) organization with an ethnically and socio-economically diverse student body. Staff members have experience in early childhood education and development and attend annual training programs. CCDC is licensed by the Department of Social Services and adheres to all child care and developmental standards required by the ABC Voucher System.
Clemson Montessori School, based on Montessori methods and philosophy, offers a challenging learning environment, low student-teacher ratios, an experienced teaching staff, and comfortable spacious facilities.
Lakes and Bridges Charter School meets the needs of children with dyslexia and related reading disorders in Upstate South Carolina by offering a multi-sensory curriculum to teach reading skills.
OLLI at Clemson University is a membership community of over 1,400 individuals in the Upstate who enjoy peer camaraderie as they participate in an array of courses, excursions, and special interest groups.
Pickens County First Steps is a local non-profit that uses state, federal, and private funds to support programs that measurably improve school readiness outcomes for children through programs and partnerships with public and private organizations. The goal is to support families as their children’s first and most important teachers, to ensure children enter school on track and ready to succeed.
The ALC believes in building better futures and stronger communities - one student at a time. They strive to create a caring and safe environment that emphasizes high achievement and career preparation by providing quality educational opportunities to meet the needs of our adult community.
Tri-County Technical College, a public two-year community and technical college serving Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties in South Carolina. The college serves more than 9,000 students annually in more than 70 major fields of study at four full-service campuses, a state-of-the-art Industrial Technology Center, and online. They also offer a variety of certificate based courses.
Comedy Arts
The ITGA strengthens town/gown partnerships by providing a network of professionals and resources identifying and sharing promising practices, innovative solutions, and professional development opportunities for municipal and university communities.
Lake Hartwell Country
Lake Hartwell Country strives to collect, preserve, and promote the rich history of Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties, and to promote economic development through tourism in the region.
Littlejohn Community Center
The Littlejohn Community Center is a facility where citizens of the City of Clemson can enhance the quality of community life and promote life-long learning; individual, family, neighborhood, and community growth; and social, physical, and cultural development.
