Performing Arts

Foothills Playhouse

Foothills Playhouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing live theatre for the whole family. Their goal is to put the “Community” in Community Theatre, and they strive to enhance theatre presence in the community as well as community presence in the theatre. They produce eight plays each season at their Easley based playhouse.

The Peace Center

With a 2,100-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theater, an amphitheater, a sophisticated patrons lounge, and a variety of indoor and outdoor meeting, rehearsal, and event spaces, the Peace Center has become the hub of cultural life in Upstate South Carolina. Several of Greenville’s excellent performing arts organizations are resident companies. These include Carolina Ballet Theatre, Greenville Chorale, Greenville County Youth Orchestras, Greenville Symphony Orchestra, International Ballet, and South Carolina Children’s Theater.

Orchestral Music

Carolina Youth Symphony

The Carolina Youth Symphony is a non-profit youth organization driven by talented, educated individuals who are passionate about bringing music into the lives of young people and, therefore, mankind’s future.

Clemson University Symphony Orchestra

The CU Symphony Orchestra is a part of the Clemson University Fine Arts program. The Orchestra strives to achieve the highest level of music-making possible for a college/community ensemble. In the course of rehearsals, musicians gain practical knowledge of ensemble playing, leadership, musicianship, intonation, and phrasing. During the concerts, musicians integrate these skills to produce their best possible performance.

Foothills Chorale

Foothills Chorale is a community choir consisting of vocal musicians from Upstate South Carolina who are dedicated to professional performances of great music in a wide variety of vocal styles. A typical concert program of the Chorale may include the traditional three B’s: Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. Or the audience may hear a different three B’s: Bach (as in PDQ Bach), Bernstein (musical theater), and Brubeck (vocal jazz).

Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium

GAMAC is an organization committed to the very best in community musical performing arts and education. From the professional artist and the talented avocational artist to the gifted and talented youth of the area, GAMAC seeks to develop their talent and showcase them for the public. GAMAC’s concert series provides high quality cultural experiences for the community and a forum for excellence for the performers, thereby enriching the quality of life in the Anderson area.

Vocal Musical Arts

Greenville Symphony Orchestra

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to providing educational and cultural opportunities for the citizens of Greenville and surrounding communities through the presentation of live orchestral music. Offering excellence in live musical performance, the orchestra enriches lives, educates minds, and encourages community support of the arts.

Greenville Chorale

From its beginning, the Chorale has presented great choral-orchestral literature to the delight of enthusiastic audiences, and it has performed all of the major classical masterworks as well as contemporary compositions and world premieres.

TakeNote

TakeNote is Clemson University’s all-female pop a cappella ensemble. The group is comprised of 12 to 16 women selected from the larger Clemson choral ensembles by audition. While highlighting vocal percussion and soloists, TakeNote performs popular music ranging from the 1960s to contemporary songs. TakeNote performs at various University events.

Tigeroar

Tigeroar is Clemson University’s all male a cappella ensemble consisting of 12 to 16 men from any major. Membership is through audition and requires participation in either Men’s Choir, Clemson University Singers, or Cantorei. Tigeroar performs at a variety of university events, including Tigerama and hold semester showcases of their own.

Dance

Carolina Ballroom Dance Studio

This studio has a well-known reputation for providing expert private lessons and group classes for singles and couples in Swing, Waltz, Salsa, Rumba, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha-Cha, and many more. They offer public dances, group dance classes, and private dance classes.

Fain School of Dance

From its beginning, the Chorale has presented great choral-orchestral literature to the delight of enthusiastic audiences, and it has performed all of the major classical masterworks as well as contemporary compositions and world premieres.

Foothills Dance Conservatory
Foothills Dance Conservatory is the first premier pre-professional dance school in Oconee County. The school was founded with a most ambitious objective in mind: to offer time-honored traditional dance instruction in a variety of subjects in a nurturing environment with teaching excellence normally found in big cities.

Unlimited Talent Dance Studio
This studio offers a variety of dance instruction including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe, Tumbling, and Private Lessons offered at all levels from beginning to advanced.  In addition, UTDS has Competitive Dance Teams that are nationally recognized for their outstanding choreography, technique, and performance style. 

Upstate Gymnastics
Upstate Gymnastics teaches gymnastics in a fun, encouraging environment. They offer lessons for ages 1.5 through adult in competitive teams and non-competitive levels.


Comedy Arts

Alchemy Comedy

Since 2011, the Alchemy Comedy Theater has performed weekly improv, stand up, and sketch comedy shows.  These live energetic shows feature different local performers and special guests each week. They also offer improvisation classes throughout the year in hopes of opening doors, creating a bridge, and making improv comedy accessible and inclusive.

Mock Turtle Soup

Mock Turtle Soup, Clemson University’s BEST and ONLY comedy improv troupe, is entirely student run. MTS does a combination of short-form and long-form games at their shows, which are held 4 to 5 times a semester. Auditions are held in the Fall ONLY.
