A Greener Clemson
A healthy tree canopy, abundant native plants, reduced environmental impacts, and prevention of habitat loss for native species is necessary to maintain quality of life, manage stormwater and water quality, and minimize the impacts on natural resources that come with growth. The City of Clemson has been a Tree City USA for 11 years, recently completed a tree canopy assessment, and hosts regular tree giveaways with TreesUpstate. The City was also recognized as a Monarch City, pledging to plant milkweed around the City in an effort to save the Monarch butterflies. The City is also working towards becoming a certified wildlife habitat. More details on all of these initiatives is included below.
