Social Media Policy

Purpose: 
The City of Clemson's social media channels are intended to provide information, resources, and community engagement opportunities. 

Public Interaction and Disclaimer: 
The City encourages public interaction and communication about the content we post, but this does not imply the endorsement of any views expressed in comments. The person who posts a comment is solely responsible for its content. 

Comments and Content: 
  • Publicity: Comments posted on the City of Clemson's social media platforms are public and should be considered as such. 
  • Personal Information: The City advises against sharing sensitive, personal information, such as home addresses or personal email addresses, on social media. 
  • Disclaimer: Comments posted by the public represent the opinions of the individuals and do not necessarily reflect the views or endorsement of the City of Clemson. 
Moderation Guidelines
  • Respectful Engagement: The City aims to foster a respectful and inclusive online community. 
  • Platform Rules: Comments that violate the terms of service or community standards of the specific social media platform will be addressed according to those guidelines. 
  • City Moderation: Comments that do not violate platform rules may still be subject to moderation by the City of Clemson. 
  • Prohibited Content: Comments containing any of the following may be removed or restricted: 
    • Off-topic: Comments unrelated to the original post or outside the jurisdiction of the City. 
    • Obscene: Content that is vulgar or offensive. 
    • Threats: Comments that threaten harm to individuals or organizations. 
    • Commerical Promotion: Advertising or promoting products or services.
    • Illegal Activity: Encourage or promote illegal activities or violence. 
    • Privacy Violations: Content that violates the privacy or security of individuals or organizations. 
Enforcement
The City of Clemson reserves the right to remove comments, block users, or take other appropriate actions to maintain a positive and respectful online environment.
