Property Taxes

Property taxes are the City's largest revenue source, comprising roughly half of all General Fund revenues each year.

Property taxes are levied on all residential, commercial, and personal property in the City of Clemson. The tax levy on a particular piece of property is determined by three factors: market value, assessment ratio, and millage rate.

Pickens County also collects a Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) - a 1% sales tax on purchases that is then used to offset these property taxes.

Property taxes are payable to Pickens County, not the City of Clemson.
