Elections
The Mayor and members of City Council are elected to staggered four year terms, and elections are held on odd numbered years.
Voting in the Municipal Election All voters must be registered for at least 30 days prior to the scheduled election date. Register to vote, check your voter registration status, updated your address, find your polling location, and view your sample ballot at SCVotes.gov.

Poll Workers Pickens County needs individuals with a “can do” attitude, an interest in serving their communities, and a desire to see behind the scenes to serve as election workers on November 08, 2022. Poll workers earn a stipend of $135 for completion of training and the full day of work.
Responsibilities of Poll Workers:
-Must be a registered voter in South Carolina (Not required for student workers ages 16-17). -Attend required training (Approximately 2 hours). -Assist in the setup of the polling place prior to the election. -Help conduct the election at the assigned precinct from 6am until all closing procedures are completed. -Must have transportation to and from the assigned polling place.
Running for Public Office
Those wishing to run for public office must:
- Be registered to vote in the State of South Carolina - Have resided in the City of Clemson for at least six months preceding the date of the election - Be willing and able to attend all City Council meetings (with few exceptions) and sit on various committees, both long and short term.
The candidate filing period opens in mid-July and will be open for two weeks. Filing takes place at City Hall with the Municipal Clerk.
Candidates will need to bring:
- Photo identification - Proof of residency - Voter registration card- Completed Statement of Intention of Candidacy Form - $10 Filing Fee
