The Municipal Clerk is a City Council appointed position and essential to the correct and efficient operation of Council meetings. The Clerk prepares, advertises, and distributes agendas and proposed ordinances for regular and special City Council meetings and public hearings and prepares and indexes meeting minutes. After Council has adopted ordinances and resolutions, the Clerk files and codifies the information to ensure that the municipal code is up to date.

During election years, the Clerk receives candidates to file for office and places legal ads. The Clerk administers the Oath of Office to public officials and performs Notary functions for the office.

The Clerk serves as the custodian of official City legal records, maintaining the City’s files and completing all required certification and recording of these documents. As the City’s records manager, the Clerk catalogs and maintains record storage according to state and federal retention schedules. The Clerk processes titles, registrations, and licenses for all City vehicles, performing an annual inventory on these vehicles and handles liability reporting and insurance administration. The Clerk accepts claims for damages and other legal papers served on the City.
